Stichting Filmtent

Stichting Filmtent is a non-profit focused on supporting independent filmmakers achieve their goals, from courses and training to coaching and advice. We want to stimulate the next generation of filmmakers to pick up cameras and go tell stories  as we believe stories are keys to understanding each other better.

Stichting Filmtent has also produced a number of documentaries and short films.

Our MDT Documentary Impact Challenge offers youth 18-29 the opportunity to learn about filmmaking and videography through hte medium of documentary film.

As a Maatschappelijke Diensttijd (MDT) project, our Documentary Impact Challenge is free for anyone 18 to 29, inclusive. Upon completion of the course, participants receive an MDT certificate, which includes a list of all the skills they have developed - perfect for filling out a resume or portfolio!

Our Documentary Impact Challenge encourage participants to work together, developing bonds and building a closer link to their local communit all while learning how to:

• manage a film project,
• set up lights
• conduct interviews,
• capture B-Roll
• build the story in video editing software.

We have two new courses starting in Den Haag:

• 17 January 2026 (English)
• 02 February 2026 (Dutch)

Both courses will take place at:

Participants are encouraged to make documentaries that serve local comunities in some way, be it making a documentary about an Indonesian restaurant that has been a cornerstone of a community since the founders started it or making a documentary about local community organisations or issues, for example.

In these ways our participants engage in 1 of the 3 pillars of MDT: Doing something for someone else (Iets doen voor een ander) through preserving cultural heritage or shining a light on local organisations and causes.
